Chapter 705: Killing People Openly
Alice and Andusia had good coordination with each other. Or, more specifically, Andusia was excellent at complementing Alice's actions. After all, Andusia had been tagging alongside Alice for quite some time now and had seen how Alice fought multiple times. Hence, she knew Alice's habits and which taboos Alice was capable of using.
Simply put, Andusia understood Alice's fighting style very well. Hence, she could make up for all of the holes in Alice's defenses as well as help Alice launch follow-up attacks.
Meanwhile, Alice alone was already enough of a challenge for Fugallo, so adding a former Demon King into the mix only worsened his situation. After making a probing attack on the duo, Fugallo quickly understood how terrible of a situation he was in. Not only did his attack fail to do any damage to Alice and Andusia, but he had nearly gotten his left leg severed. Although his left leg remained attached to his body, there was a very deep cut at his knee, and he could no longer feel anything below that knee.
"Time to finish him."
Alice also realized that Fugallo was at his limits. Although she still wasn't fully certain what Fugallo was plotting, she decided it would be best to get rid of this troublemaking Demon King as soon as possible to avoid unnecessary problems.
After saying so to Andusia, Alice promptly flew toward Fugallo and lashed the silver whip in her right hand at Fugallo's head. If the Feathers of Silver struck Fugallo's head, its powerful corrosive capabilities could instantly decompose at least half of his head.
Fugallo was naturally aware of the Feathers of Silver's might. So, the moment he saw Alice attacking him with the taboo, he promptly lowered his elevation. Fortunately, he had reacted to the attack in the nick of time as the Feathers of Silver barely scraped his scalp.
However, as soon as Fugallo evaded Alice's attack, he was startled to find a small figure sitting at the end of the whip through the corner of his eyes.
Andusia coldly smiled as she jumped off the whip, grabbing the end of the whip as she got off. Alice currently held absolute authority over the Feathers of Silver. So, under her control, the Feathers of Silver would not corrode Andusia's body. Hence, Andusia could sit on and grab the Feathers of Silver without getting harmed.
Now, with Alice holding one end of the whip and Andusia holding the other, the whip made of the Feathers of Silver had suddenly become something akin to a jump rope. Meanwhile, Fugallo, who was directly below this jump rope, immediately realized the severity of the situation.
"Surprise!"
Andusia shouted before swinging the Feathers of Silver back at Fugallo. Because Fugallo was caught off-guard this time, he failed to react to the attack as quickly as before. So, even though he had already tried his best to lower his body's elevation, he still failed to evade the Feathers of Silver.
Hiss…
The sound of flesh and bone getting torn apart sounded as the Feathers of Silver swept through a portion of Fugallo's head. Fortunately, as he had desperately lowered his elevation, the attack did not take away half of his head. It only shaved off a portion of his scalp and skull. Although the wound was gruesome, it wasn't fatal.
Dammit. I'm really going to die at this rate, Fugallo mentally cursed as he panted for air. Andusia's participation in the fight instantly caused his situation to plummet. If he had reacted even a bit slower just now, he would most likely be dead already.
Thinking up to this point, Fugallo looked down at the mansion below. He noticed that throughout their fight, Alice had deliberately avoided letting any of their attacks—whether it was her Burning Star or his Windstorm—from affecting the mansion.
As for why Alice avoided damaging the mansion, it was naturally because of the magicians inside. Seeing as Fugallo and Haydn had recruited these magicians to help them cast their Law-grade taboo, all of them must be great magicians capable of working as professors in magic academies. If over a hundred such magicians suddenly died, it would be devastating to the Rhine Kingdom.
Alice did not wish to destroy the Rhine Kingdom's foundations just to get rid of a former Demon King. Hence, she would always redirect her and Fugallo's attacks away from the mansion.
However, Alice probably failed to realize that Fugallo had similarly avoided dragging the mansion into their fight.
The reason was also simple. Although Alice's intervention had caused his taboo to stop functioning, the demon mana the taboo had collected thus far was already enough to achieve his primary goal. The only reason he had let the taboo continue running until Alice's intervention was so that he could also complete his secondary goals.
However, beggars couldn't be choosers. If he didn't start his plan right now, death would be his only outcome. Thinking up to this point, Fugallo stopped hesitating. After giving Alice and Andusia a hateful glare, he promptly flew downward and crashed straight through the roof.
