Before long, Regent Hamilton understood why this prince was so calm.

Rayne said, "Hamilton, the regent of Leta. Was it your idea to lock me here?"

The regent said coldly, "I don't have that much power. This is a joint decision of the palace, Rayne Haines. Your crimes in Leta were enough to have you sent to feed the dragons. You should be grateful that we're not killing you right now."

When Rayne heard that, he merely chuckled indifferently.

"What a joke. Do you guys even want to kill me? You should know the consequences of that very well."

Rayne said coldly, "I'm the Prince of Haines and the successor of the Empire. Haven't you guys suffered enough for your previous assassination attempt on the Empress of Haines?"

The White Tower incident 10 years ago had deeply enlightened the mortal countries about how terrifying Haines was.

Naturally, the regent understood what would happen if they incurred the wrath of Haines again by Leta's capture of the Prince of Haines this time round.

However, the regent's smile was even more disdainful than Rayne's as he questioned, "You're only a prince and not the Emperor yet."

"Think about it yourself, Rayne Haines. Are you really the only choice of Haines?"

Rayne: "You…"

For a moment, no matter how much Rayne controlled his emotions, there was still a hint of panic in his eyes.

Rayne understood the regent's words.

He was only a prince and not an Emperor. There were others who could be the Emperor of Haines still. Furthermore... it was clear that his death would create the opportunity for the other heirs of the throne!

Rayne gritted his teeth and questioned angrily, "Who was the one who instigated you guys?"

The regent was relieved when he saw Rayne's panic.
