Special District 9 Chapter 58: The Kidnapped Receiver

Qin Yu, Old Cat, and Qi Lin ran over to the windowsill along the third-floor corridor and looked down. There was a platform on the second floor right below the window. The kidnappers must have leaped down to the platform before taking the stairs beside it down to the first floor.

Looking a little further ahead, Qin Yu saw that the goatskin windbreaker young man dragging Kang-ge to the opposite end of the street. They were about to walk into an alley.

“Kang-ge must be in a very dangerous situation if he told us to save him,” Qi Lin told the other two anxiously. “We must save him, or else everything we have done would have been in vain!”

Qin Yu understood what Qi Lin meant. They didn’t have to luxury to hesitate and carefully think this matter through, or else the kidnappers would really slip past them. So, he turned to Old Cat and instructed, “You’ll drive the car over. Qi Lin and I will follow them to take a look.”

“Take care of yourselves!” Old Cat said.

“Contact us after you get the car,” Qin Yu instructed as he climbed up the windowsill. He beckoned to Qi Lin and said, “Let’s go!”

Following that, the two of them jumped down one after another. On the other hand, Old Cat turned around and rushed toward the stairs.

After turning at two bends, just as he was about to reach the stairway, he suddenly heard footsteps heading in his direction. In the next moment, seven young men dressed in the white uniform of Platinum Castle rushed up to the third floor with weapons in hand.

The two sides stared at one another for a brief moment.

The sharp-witted Old Cat reacted quickly. He pointed to the corridor and shouted anxiously, “You all are finally here! There was a group of bastards who fired their gun and kidnapped a man. They ran over there and escaped from the window!”

“How many people do they have?” the leader of the group asked with a frown.

“I didn’t see clearly, but there should be around four to five of them,” Old Cat said as he quickly cleared the path for them to pass.

Seeing that Old Cat was by himself and that he didn’t have any weapon on him, the group of seven young men didn’t think too much into it. They rushed right toward the window with their weapons in hand.

Old Cat wiped off the sweat on his face. He quickly dashed down the stairs as he cursed beneath his breath, “When did my life become a bloody thriller…”

Behind Platinum Castle.

After leaping down to the platform and rushing down the stairs, Qin Yu was just about to cross the road to continue chasing after the kidnappers when Qi Lin suddenly held him back and said, “The other party doesn’t seem to have realized that someone is following them. We shouldn’t track them too tightly to avoid alerting them.”

Qin Yu was slightly stunned after hearing these words. He turned to Qi Lin and replied, “Got it.”

After swiftly communicating a rough plan, they crossed the road and entered the alley.

The electrical grid of the Development District had never been stable. Most of the area would plunge into darkness by ten o’clock at night, let alone the remote alleys which people hardly passed by. As such, Qin Yu and Qi Lin could only see silhouettes in front of them.

At the same time, however, it also made it hard for the other party to detect them. By maintaining a safe distance between them, the two of them were able to track the group that kidnapped Kang-ge down without much worry.

The alley was narrow and long. Holding their guns tightly, QIn Yu and Qi Lin followed them for around 200 meters, turning two bends during this period of time, before they finally reached the end.

By the roadside at the end of the alley, there was an old off-road pickup truck parked by the side with its engine still on. The goatskin windbreaker young man pressed the gun against Kang-ge’s head as they walked over to the side of the pickup truck. On the left side of the pick-up truck, a young man dressed in a black leather jacket walked over and began talking to him with a lowered voice.

As the two of them were a considerable distance away from one another, Qin Yu and Qi Lin couldn’t hear the content of their conversation. However, they could sense that this bunch of people was preparing to retreat.

“Should we rush over to save him?” Qi Lin asked with a deep frown.

Through the headlights of the pickup truck, Qin Yu could see the goatskin windbreaker young man and the others clearly. He shook his head and replied, “This bunch of people are no pushovers. Military coats and Martens boots, it looks like they have been in the Wasteland District before. We only have two pistols on hand. If we engage them at close distance, we won’t know what they’ll pull out next.”

Qi Lin gritted his teeth and said, “If everything fails, you can still return to the Development District, and Old Cat has Old Li backing him, so he has nothing to worry about. But what do I, Qi Lin, have? It’s due to your help that I was able to survive this far, and the medicine route is my only way to turn things around. Old Cat frantically ran out of Platinum Castle, crossed the road, and got into their jeep.

“Coco?” Old Cat had to think for a moment before he remembered the name of the beautiful lady whom he had drunk with earlier in the compartment room.

“Oh? You still remember my name?” Coco replied with a chuckle.

However, Old Cat was in no mood to fool around with the other party. He looked at her impatiently and urged, “Hurry up and get off the car. I’m not free tonight.”

“What are you in such a rush for?” Coco leaned toward Old Cat as she asked.

“I told you to get off!” Old Cat howled furiously. “Right now! I have things to settle.”

“Trying to give us the slip after capturing your target, huh?” Coco eyed Old Cat intently as she spoke.

“What do you mean?” Old Cat was stunned.

“Get your two friends to send Kang-ge back here.” By this moment, the smile had already vanished from Coco’s lips.

Old Cat was stunned for a moment before he quickly moved his hand toward his waist.

Three men dressed in tuxedos walked over and stood by the side of the car. They didn’t make any abrupt movements, and they didn’t make any attempts to draw their weapons either. They simply stared at Old Cat coldly, as if daring him to make a move.

“Don’t move, or else something bad might happen,” Coco said as she tapped her finger lightly on Old Cat’s chest. “Give your friend a call.”

“Who the hell are you?” Old Cat asked grimly.

Coco looked at Old Cat with a pair of bright eyes as she moved her hand toward Old Cat’s pockets to fish out his phone. “I am his boss.”

Old Cat was stunned.

Coco passed the phone over and ordered with a commanding voice, “If you don’t want to die in Jiangzhou, unlock the phone right now and give your friend a call.”
