Special District 9 Chapter 108: Don’t Panic, Uncle Ma. There’s Still Hope

In the construction site.

Old Ma used the most direct and crude method to intimidate all of the men on the opposite side into submission. Furthermore, now that the extremely unpopular Xing Zihao had already been killed, the other men had no reason to fight back anymore. As soon as Old Cat, Guan Qi, and the others arrived on the scene, they laid down their guns and surrendered.

Qin Yu scanned the situation in the construction site before quickly scanning the area outside. He could vaguely hear the sound of a car engine whirring in the distance. Most likely, these were Xing Zihao’s reinforcements. So, he quickly issued an instruction, “Let’s leave this area first. They have more men coming.”

Amidst the crowd, Ma Lao-er looked at the silhouette of his uncle, whose back had arched due to old age, and he suddenly found that he wasn’t able to say anything at all.

Meanwhile, Old Ma caught sight of the tragic plight that had befallen Little Liu, and his face twitched a little. However, he held back his emotions and walked right over to help Liu Zishu up without saying a word.

“Quick, support the casualties!” Old Cat shouted to those around.

Old Ma’s people and Guan Qi quickly brought Ma Lao-er, Liu Zishu, and Little Liu’s corpse onto the car, and soon, the group was already ready to set off.

However, just before they headed off, Qin Yu suddenly spoke up, “We need to take Xing Zihao’s corpse and all of his men with us.”

Old Cat was a little flabbergasted by that instruction. “He’s already dead, why the hell should we bring them along?”

“Stop talking crap and just do as you’re told!”

“But the car won’t fit all of us.”

“You all get on first. Guan Qi, you take two men and follow me. We’ll run by the left side,” Qin Yu instructed quickly. “We’ll be firing once every ten meters to lure them over. Quick, we need to hurry!”

Old Ma was silent for a moment before saying, “Follow Qin Yu’s plan.”

Since even the most senior Old Ma had already said so, the others weren’t in a position to voice their objections anymore.

Several seconds later a couple of gunshots sounded inside the construction site. The other men, who had lost contact with Xing Zihao, quickly chased the gunshots.

Around two minutes later, after Qin Yu brought Guan Qi and the others to circle two rounds around the construction site, they quickly flipped their jackets inside out and stopped firing altogether. With a leisurely attitude, they left the area.

On the car, Old Ma was completely silent.

Ma Lao-er, in a groggy state of mind, raised his arm and grabbed his uncle’s leg.

The silence continued for a long while before Ma Lao-er’s emotions finally flowed out like a fallen dam. Bloodied tears flowed down his cheeks as he said, “Uncle… I was wrong… I was the one who brought Little Liu and Maozi to their death… You were right, I was nothing at all… I can’t do anything properly at all.”

Old Ma lowered his head and grabbed Liu Zishu and Ma Lao-er’s wrists with his hands as he spoke with a hint of helplessness in his voice, “I’m already old. You can’t rely on me for life.”

Those words made Ma Lao-er burst out crying.

Deep in the night, at a clearing in the midst of Fengbei’s suburbs.

Qin Yu was standing by the side of an igloo, smoking a cigarette together with Old Ma.

The two of them were quiet for a long while before Old Ma finally spoke up, “Qin Yu, after all that you have done, it looks like our Ma Family is still unable to rise through the ranks. I’m really sorry about that.”

Qin Yu paused for a moment after hearing those words before saying with a frown, “Uncle Ma, you shouldn’t have killed Xing Zihao.”

“If I didn’t kill him, his men wouldn’t have surrendered so quickly. Their reinforcement was already on the way, so we can’t afford to get delayed over there. Otherwise, it’d have been the end of us,” Old Ma replied calmly.

“That’s true too,” Qin Yu sighed deeply before nodding his head helplessly.

“Rest assured. The Ma Family will take full responsibility for Xing Zihao’s death. No matter what happens, we won’t implicate you in this,” Old Ma said. “You, Old Cat, and Guan Qi should leave later on.”

Qin Yu took in a puff of smoke before asking, “What do you intend to do next?”

“To be honest, I haven’t thought it out,” Old Ma replied. “But for the time being, I’ll first send Lao-er and Zishu out of the Special District first. I’ll leave it to the heavens to decide their fate.”

“What about you?”

“Even if I die, I have to die at Dirt Street,” Old Ma replied unhesitatingly. “Those folks were the ones who made me the person I am. I can’t run away irresponsibly after all the fiasco that has happened… If I can’t cleanse my reputation, I’ll let the folks at Dirt Street judge me.”

Qin Yu looked at Old Ma with a surprised look on his face. Then, he nodded his head and said, “Uncle Ma, you have my respect.”

“Hehe, it’s a pity that we met too late in life. If it was a few years before, we might have done something great together,” Old Ma chuckled.

Qin Yu looked at Old Ma’s aged face silently for a while before he suddenly spoke up, “Uncle Ma, it might not be over yet.”

Old Ma was stunned by those words. “What do you mean?”

“There’s still a way out.”

“There’s no need to console me, I know what kind of situation I’m in. Little Qu is already dead, so there’s no way to explain the fake medicine anymore,” Old Ma said with a deep sigh. “And now that Xing Zihao is dead too, Prosperous Dragon Pharmaceuticals would surely come after us. You must know that they aren’t on the same level as Yuan Hua at all. If Xing Zihao’s father were to give a word, even your Old Li might end up getting done in.”

“But who knows that Xing Zihao is dead?” Qin Yu replied with a smile.

Those words made Old Ma widen his eyes.

“Uncle Ma, I like the way you do things. I’m willing to go all out with you one more time,” Qin Yu said earnestly.

Old Ma immediately snapped out of his astonishment and asked, “What’s the plan?”

“Firstly, use your connections to get a doctor to treat Lao-er and Zishu,” Qin Yu instructed. “Once the doctor arrived, hold him down. Don’t let him leave.”

“Yes, I know that,” Old Ma replied.

“Also, all of Xing Zihao’s men whom we have brought back with us, we can’t release any of them at all,” Qin Yu instructed. “No matter how burdensome they may be, we need to keep them under control.”

“To prevent the news from leaking?” Old Ma sought verification.

“Yes, that’s right,” Qin Yu replied.

Old Ma contemplated for a moment before asking on, “What about after this?”

“Well, the rest of our plan hinges on this,” Qin Yu said as he fished out Xing Zihao’s phone from his pocket. “We’ll wait for a call.”

Old Ma widened his eyes in realization. He quickly nodded his head and said, “Alright, let’s wait for the call then.”

Roughly forty minutes later.

While Old Ma was still trying to pull his connections to get a doctor, the phone in Qin Yu’s pocket suddenly rang.

“Keep quiet!” Qin Yu instructed everyone around him sternly.

By the car, everyone turned to Qin Yu as they quickly quietened down.

Qin Yu rubbed away the sweat on his palm before answering the call, “Hello?”

“…” It was silence on the other side.

“Is it Old Yuan, or is it Mr Xing?” Qin Yu asked with an annoyingly light tone.

There was still nothing on the other side.

“You don’t want to talk? I’ll be hanging up then.”

“Where’s Xing Zihao?” Yuan Hua’s voice sounded from the other side.

“Isn’t it common courtesy to introduce yourself before talking about anything else?” Qin Yu spoke with an intentionally light voice.

“I am Yuan Hua.”

“Ah, so it’s Boss Yuan!” Qin Yu exclaimed. “You are looking for Xing Zihao?”

“Cut the crap and get to the point,” Yuan Hua said sharply.

“Heh, you should very well know why we’re in Fengbei,” Qin Yu replied.

“Little Qu is dead. Do you want his corpse?” Yuan Hua felt a vein popping out of his temple.

Qin Yu scratched his head and said, “Aiyo. If Little Qu is gone, how are we going to explain the matter about the fake medicine then?”

Yuan Hua took in a deep breath before continuing on, “There’s no point talking to a lad like you. Get Old Ma on the phone.”

“Since Little Qu is dead, I’ll take Yong Dong then,” Qin Yu remarked calmly. “Two days from now, I’ll send you a time and a location. Get Yong Dong to head there by himself. If he doesn’t show up, I’m afraid that I can only send you an urn of ashes.”

After saying his piece, Qin Yu hung up the phone and switched it off it right away.

“He didn’t get a chance to talk to Xing Zihao at all. Would he really believe it?” Old Cat asked.

Qin Yu chuckled at those words before replying, “The young master of Prosperous Dragon Pharmaceuticals has been kidnapped. Do you think that Yuan Hua has the luxury to choose whether to believe us or not?”

Old Cat’s eyes lit up as he exclaimed, “Amazing. You are really devious!”

“Why wait for two days? Isn’t that a little too long?” Guan Qi asked worriedly.

Qin Yu slipped the phone back into his pocket before answering Guan Qi’s question, “The two days are not for us but for Yuan Hua. I’m going to use a dead person to incite internal strife among them.”
