Special District 9 Chapter 102: 60 Seconds to Spit It Out

The car cruised swiftly across the road.

Ma Lao-er grabbed Wen Tao’s hair as he hollered, “Where’s Little Qu?”

“Bro, don’t grab my hair. We can talk things out,” Wen Tao said as he tried to straighten his body.

“I’m asking you where’s Little Qu?!” Ma Lao-er roared once again.

“Who is Little Qu? I don’t know him?” Wen Tao was squeezed to the point where his body had distorted a little out of shape, and he was gasping slightly for air as he spoke.

“You don’t know him, huh?” Ma Lao-er uttered coldly. He grabbed a knife and stabbed it deep into Wen Tao’s left thigh.

Tss!

Fresh blood spurted forth, splattering all over Liu Zishu’s upper body.

“Fuck! Why don’t you kill me if you dare?!” Wen Tao roared in response.

Ma Lao-er suddenly moved his knife leftward, and with a slight slitting sound, Wen Tao’s pants were sliced open.

“What are you doing?” Wen Tao was flustered by the abrupt action.

“Does the knife feel cold?” Ma Lao-er asked menacingly. “I just need to move it a little, and it’ll be the end of your manhood.”

“…!” Sweat poured down Wen Tao’s forehead as he gulped fearfully.

“You know why I am here for you,” Ma Lao-er said with a ferocious look in his eyes. “Do you think I would come all the way here from Songjiang for the sake of a small grudge? Do you think that I won’t be able to find him just because you don’t speak? Ah?!”

“Bro, y-your knife… Move it away first. We can talk it out.”

“I’ll ask you one last time. Where’s Little Qu?” Ma Lao-er bellowed. “This is your final chance.”

“I… He… Bro, p-please! Move your knife away first!”

“You want to play games with me. Sure, I’ll play with you!” Ma Lao-er lifted the knife up and plunged it down toward Wen Tao’s crotch.

“Don’t! Don’t! I’ll speak… I’ll speak…” Wen Tao cried out fearfully. “He’s in my house right now. Please, don’t do it…”

“Who else is in your house?”

“I-it’s just him now…” Wen Tao wouldn’t be so frightened if Ma Lao-er gave him a few stabs or cripple him, but he couldn’t stand the thought of becoming someone who was neither a man nor a woman. He immediately lost all rationality and confessed right away.

“Where’s your house? Spit it out right now!” Liu Zishu asked in agitation.

“T-turn left in front…” Wen Tao replied with a stutter.

In a ‘meat shop’ inside the city area.

Old Ma checked the weapons before he finally turned around and instructed, “Guan Qi, pass the money over to him.”

Guan Qi took out a wad of cash and handed it over to the foreign-looking middle-aged man. The latter counted the money carefully before remarking with a chuckle, “What are you lot trying to pull off in Fengbei? I seem to be getting quite a bit of orders these days.”

“You’re trying to sound us out?” Old Ma asked with a frown.

“No, of course not! It’s just a casual question,” the middle-aged man replied with a smile. “Alright, that’s all then. I still have more goods on hand, so you can give me a call if you need more.”

Old Ma took one last look at the middle-aged man before saying, “Let’s go.”

The crowd quickly left together with Old Ma.

In Wen Tao’s house.

Little Qu, who had been waiting nervously all this while, had finally run out of patience. When his calls weren’t reaching Wen Tao at all, words couldn’t begin to describe just how flustered he was.

Sitting on the bed, he pondered for a while before he checked Duke Carnival’s front reception number on his phone and dialed over.

After listening to the music on hold for a good thirty seconds, the call finally connected. “Hello. This is Duke Carnival.”

“Ah, hello. I would just like to ask if Wen Tao is around.”

“This is the front reception number. If you’re looking for Wen Tao, please contact him through his phone number instead.”

“My apologies, but I couldn’t reach him on his phone. I’m his friend, and I’m looking for him for some urgent business. Can you call him on my behalf?” Little Qu asked politely.

“I haven’t seen him around today.”

“Please, just ask around. When I talked to him earlier in the afternoon, he told me that he would be dropping by his workplace,” Little Qu forced himself to be calm as he spoke. “Do me this favor, alright? I really need to get to him right now.”

“… Give me a moment.”

“Alright, thank you!”

There was a pause of around three minutes before the other party picked up the phone once more and asked, “Are you still there?”

“Yes, I’m here.”

“Wen Tao has already left Duke Carnival.”

“How long has he been gone for?”

“For quite a while, I think.”

“…!” A frown formed on Wen Tao’s forehead. He contemplated for a moment before finally replying, “Alright, I got it. Sorry for the trouble.”

“No problem.” The front receptionist hung up the phone.

Inside the house, Little Qu took a look at his watch one last time before standing up and wearing his clothes at an incredible speed.

On the car.

Ma Lao-er finally got through Qin Yu’s phone, and he asked, “Where are you?”

“We’re eating right now,” Qin Yu replied. “Your uncle has gone to get some equipment. We’re waiting for him right now.”

“I’ve captured Wen Tao,” Ma Lao-er got straight to the point. “That lad gave away Little Qu’s location in less than 60 seconds.”

Qin Yu was stunned. He put down his chopsticks as he asked anxiously, “Why didn’t you tell me before making a move?!”

“I called you, but you were on the line,” Ma Lao-er replied. “Besides, the aim is just to get him. Is there a need for us to talk this through on the phone?”

“You said that he has given away Little Qu’s location?”

“That’s right,” Ma Lao-er nodded.

Qin Yu stood up and said quickly, “Send me the address. I’ll head over right now.”

“You won’t make it in time even if you rush over right away,” Ma Lao-er replied. “I’m already very close to Wen Tao’s house right now. For now, I need you to get Superintendent Li to pull some connections by the border. Once I catch Little Qu, I’ll head back to Songjiang right away. I reckon that it’ll only take me around two hours at most to reach the border.”

“What do you mean by that? You’re going to get Little Qu right away?”

“Of course,” Ma Lao-er replied with a nod. “I’ve already asked Wen Tao, and he says that Little Qu is alone at home right now.”

“No, that won’t do!” Qin Yu exclaimed with a shake of his head. “Wait for us to arrive before making a move. It’ll be safer that way. As you know, we met Yong Dong and those from the pharmaceutical company yesterday. The enemy already knows that we’re at Fengbei. Do you get what that means?”

In the resting room of Duke Carnival.

A young lad dressed in a black uniform rushed into the room. While gasping for air, he asked anxiously, “Did Wen Tao come back earlier?”

“Yeah, he came here to tender his resignation and get some stuff,” one of the employees in the resting room replied while fiddling with his phone.

“Shit, this is really bad!” the young lad exclaimed as he wiped away the sweat from his forehead. “I saw him getting kidnapped by four men earlier at the entrance!”

“That’s impossible. We walked them off to the car park earlier.”

“He was kidnapped right beside the car.”

“Then why didn’t you help him out? Besides, why would those people kidnap him?” the employee remarked as he stood up.

“… How the fuck do I help him? They have guns and knives on them! I’m lucky I ran away fast, or else they would have gotten me too!” the young lad replied fearfully.

While the two of them were talking, the manager who passed Wen Tao his pay earlier walked into the room too and asked, “What are you all talking about? Who has been kidnapped?”

“Wen Tao,” the young lad immediately replied. “I bet that fellow must have taken money that doesn’t belong to him again.”

“I’ll give Wen Tao a call later on to check on his situation. You all should stop gossiping and get back to work,” the manager berated before walking over to the side.

Around two minutes later, the manager was standing in the midst of the emergency staircase as he spoke with a respectful tone, “Yes, yes… I heard that he has been kidnapped at the parking lot, but I’m not too sure what the situation is.”
