Nightmare Assault Chapter 366: Break

“Is that so?” Wu nodded. Everyone picked up something strange from his tone.

“Miss Chen Yi.” Chu Jiu pulled on her arm to ask, “How do you feel? Do you feel uncomfortable?”

Chen Yi shook her head. She only felt a bit dizzy. She had hit his head when she had tried to crawl under the bed. There was a visible bump on her head.

“You said the ghost that found you had a pair of bruised legs?” Banana Wolf hesitated and pressed, “Is there anything else discerning about it?”

Chen Yi accepted the glass of water from Fatty. She drank and told Banana Wolf, “I know what you want to find out. The ghost that attacked me was different from the three known ghosts. It is a new one.”

Fatty stammered, “So… this mission has four ghosts.”

“That we know of,” Someone added. Fatty turned and realised the person who spoke was Wan Xiaoning. When she sensed Fatty’s gaze on her, she quickly looked to the side. Fatty didn’t pick up the scent of fear on this casually dressed woman. If anything, she acted very calmly.

Jiang Cheng looked at the rest. “What happened to you guys last night?”

Buildings 2 and 3 were peaceful. No ghost showed up. After a quick discussion, they split up. The people from Buildings 2 and 3 wanted to search for more clues. Only Chen Yi, Chu Jiu, Fatty and Jiang Cheng remained in the room. Kneeling before Chen Yi, Jiang Cheng touched her legs. He asked with concern, “How do you feel?”

“I’m fine,” Chen Yi answered. Chu Jiu said her room had something like a bandage. She wanted to go fetch it. Jiang Cheng told Fatty to go with her. After the two left, Chen Yi looked at Jiang Cheng and whispered, “How did you know the ghost would come for me?”

Jiang Cheng stood up and moved to sit beside Chen Yi. He shared his analysis with her like it was a news report. After Chu Jiu and Fatty returned with the bandage, Jiang Cheng disinfected Chen Yi’s bruise on her head. However, she rejected his offer to bandage her head. Jiang Cheng was disappointed.

Their immediate focus was to identify the long-legged ghost.

The four searched through the room. Other than some clothes and makeup, they didn’t find anything worthwhile. Chen Yi dumped the last jeans into the dresser and shook her head. She told Jiang Cheng behind her, “No. It looks like we have to attempt a different direction.”

Jiang Cheng walked out of the bathroom. He held a bottle of essence oil. It was not branded, but it looked like the kind new graduates would use. There were other makeup products on the counter in the bathroom. Jiang Cheng noticed masks and colourful palettes. Based on the current discovery, they believed the previous tenant was a young woman. She paid attention to her appearance and had a normal economic status.

“Strange.” Jiang Cheng looked around and whispered.

Chu Jiu heard him and looked at him with watery eyes. Her lips moved. “What is strange?”

Chen Yi also turned to Jiang Cheng. There was also Fatty, who stood behind.

“Why is there no mirror in this room?” Jiang Cheng asked Chen Yi, “Was it like this when you first arrived?”

Chen Yi thought about it and nodded. “Yes. I didn’t see any mirror when I first arrived.” She added, “I hadn’t checked the bathroom. I thought the mirror was in there.”

However, Jiang Cheng just existed the bathroom. The wall beside the sink was empty. This was a young woman who used makeup but there was no mirror in her room. That was strange.

Chen Yi thought about it and guessed, “There should be mirrors here, but something happened that caused the woman to dispose of all the mirrors.”

“That’s right.” Jiang Cheng agreed.

“Could it be…” Chu Jiu swallowed carefully. “Because the mirrors can reflect the ghost. The woman tossed all the mirrors because she was scared.” So far, the possibility was high.

“By the way,” Chen Yi suddenly remembered something. As she left the room, she said, “I noticed there was a bag of trash in the corridor. It contained trash like fruit cores and skin. It wasn’t there when we arrived yesterday.” This meant that someone stayed in the same building as they did. They could try their luck. Maybe their neighbours knew room.

Jiang Cheng stood at the door of Room 717. He hesitated and knocked on the door.

After a while, running sounds came from behind the door. The door opened slightly. A woman’s face appeared in the gap. Jiang Cheng noticed there was a chain lock inside. The woman looked highly alert. The room was dark. Jiang Cheng believed the curtains had blocked out all the light. The exposed face was sickly white.

“You are…” The woman behind the door moved her eyes. She stared at Jiang Cheng in the end. Her tone was unnatural.

Jiang Cheng nodded calmly. He told the woman, “Hello, I’m your neighbour. I stay in Room 710.” He pointed at his room.

When Jiang Cheng mentioned the number 710, the woman didn’t react. However, when she saw the room Jiang Cheng pointed at, her face dropped. Her breathing quickened. She uttered rapidly, “No one should stay in that room! You need to move today before the sun comes down.”

“Why?” Chen Yi was curious. “Did something happen there?”

Perhaps the group reminded the woman of something. After a quick thought, the woman opened the chain lock. “Come in.” The woman opened the door.

At the same time, a horrible smell drifted out. The woman hadn’t left the room in a very long time. The whole room reeked of decay.

Jiang Cheng and Chen Yi frowned.

The woman moved back and invited the group in. Jiang Cheng paused and then turned around to put his hand intimately around Chu Jiu’s waist. This was so sudden that it caused the latter to blush. Chu Jiu subconsciously wanted to push him away, but Jiang Cheng didn’t give her the chance.

After pulling Chu Jiu into the room, Jiang Cheng told Chen Yi, “You two should head to work. Don’t be late. Request a quick break for me.”

“15 minutes,” Jiang Cheng said calmly. “I’ll need a 15-minute break.”
