The scientists in ‘Noah’s Ark’ began to panic frantically within the shared quarters on board.

They clearly made out the brilliant glare that accompanied all nuclear explosions, but rather than shattering into fragments, the evil satellite maintained its original form.

The individuals present were all educated people. They knew that detonating a nuclear bomb in space would not look the same as detonating it on Earth due to the lack of an atmosphere. As for the nuclear radiation, it was negligible at their distance.

But this nuclear bomb was buried at the core of the moon and should have been powerful enough to rip it apart dozens of times over. After all, the geological integrity of the small moon should have been no match for the land on Earth.

Who could have known that this would happen even with the most terrifying bomb ever created? The bomb had detonated, created a brief but blinding explosion of light, and then made no other significant changes. A single long crack seemed to run along the surface where the bomb had been placed.

The misshapen moon began to spin horizontally relative to them, but slowly. Then it began to shake. Finally, the fault line created on its surface widened to become a huge cave. The cracked smile that ran over the moon had become a gaping maw, and from that maw came a bizarre sound. Despite the vacuum of space separating the astronauts from the solar projectile, they could clearly make out a distorted screech. It grated on their ears like nails on a chalkboard and stabbed into their very consciousness, threatening them with eternal torment.

And it sounded like laughter.

Despite this, the space vessel maintained its course, and soon the crew was out of range of the screeching. Looking around, they all noticed that their compatriots were bleeding from their facial orifices. Each crewmate felt their limbs lose strength at both the exhaustion of the ordeal and the despair they felt for mankind’s fate.
