Horror Game Designer Chapter 386: Xia Yang is a Good Gao Ming

Before He Jing entered the anomaly, Jing Tuoshen reminded the group many times that they had to kill Gao Ming and Wan Jie no matter what. Now that his target was before him, He Jing didn’t have that intention at all.

“You have no other choice. If you don’t cooperate with me, I’ll stall you until that Granny gets here.” The painter Gao Ming used the kindest tone to say the meanest thing.

“What do you need me to do?”

“Come downstairs first.” The painter Gao Ming guided He Jing into a rarely-known corridor. “The granny will be drawn to the mud figurine. I’ve placed a trap in the second elevator on the fourth floor. We’ll use the figurine to lure the granny into it. If we can make sure she stays in there until the elevator doors close, she’ll be sealed inside for a while.”

“What’s the point of sealing her? Once she escapes, she’ll still come after me.” He Jing didn’t trust the painter Gao Ming, but he had no better options.

“The divine figurine contains most of Past’s faith and thus can break the rules in the building. I just went to the first floor to study the three doors. The mud figurine might be able to break the God of the Past’s bindings, shatter the illusions and help one exit the apartment.” The painter Gao Ming’s words moved He Jing. “I don’t need the figurine. I only need you to bring me with you once you can leave this place.” Sincerity was written on the face of the painter Gao Ming. He was like an open book that had no hidden pages.

While the two discussed it, they had already arrived on the fourth floor. To give He Jing more security, the painter Gao Ming accompanied him and waited in front of the elevator.

“Don’t be nervous. We’ll open the door when the granny pounces at us. We have to wait until she gets close enough.”

“Are you sure you won’t push me into the elevator as well?” He Jing looked at the man suspiciously. If possible, he really didn’t want to work with such a dangerous individual.

“If you don’t trust me, you can hand me the figurine, and I’ll be the bait.” The painter Gao Ming shrugged.

He Jing scoffed and silently activated his ghost tattoo’s power. He trusted no one but himself. Granny’s footsteps reverberated down the corridor. Her clothes dragged on the ground. Her body became more rotten and scary. Her eyes had practically fallen out of her eye sockets. Large spots covered her face. Blood leaked out of her uneven teeth. As time passed, the granny became more like her true self.

The lights in the corridor went out. The granny stared straight at He Jing and the painter Gao Ming. In the dark, she howled as she charged at them.

“Fuck! She’s coming!” The pressure from the granny was stronger than any ghosts He Jing had encountered. Without getting the painter Gao Ming’s approval, he pressed the elevator button frantically to get it to open. The mottled doors slowly opened. A strong stench of blood wafted out. He Jing looked down subconsciously. The elevator booth was scarier than any murderer’s lairs he had seen. Corpses piled up haphazardly on the floor. Their bodies were tied together in knots. All of them had smiles on their faces that were painted with strange symbols. Their killer didn’t waste their blood, as the blood was used to draw out various evil ghosts on the elevator walls.

“I had no choice. I ran out of paint halfway, so I had to rely on the sacrifices.” The painter Gao Ming’s voice was still warm and gentle. He Jing shivered. They had been in the anomaly for less than two hours, but this person had already killed a whole elevator booth of victims. He realised the investigation centre’s wanted prize money on Gao Ming was too low.

“Have you been killing since we entered this place?” He Jing felt that he had lost his mind about working with someone like this.

“Actually, this didn’t take me too much time. I kill in record time.” The painter Gao Ming was very satisfied with his creation. “When I was still working, a ghost wanted to play a game with me. It said it was hiding inside someone in the same building as I did. It wanted me to kill the person it possessed within a single night. I ended the game in less than half an hour.”

The granny was only a few meters away from them, but the painter Gao Ming was still telling stories. It didn’t seem like anything could scare him in this world. With this, Gao Ming’s name was forever burned in He Jing’s mind.

“Give me the figurine!” The rotting smell from the granny collided with the smell of blood from inside the elevator. When the granny’s hand was about to touch He Jing’s face, the painter Gao Ming finally activated his trap. The evil ghosts inside the drawings reached out their arms to form a fleshy cage with the corpses to entrap the red granny.

“Knock her in!”

He Jing barely escaped death. When he saw that the granny was held back, he turned and ran. He abandoned Gao Ming instantly. However, the painter Gao Ming had predicted this. He dug his nails into his palm and He Jing collapsed to the ground.

“Where are you going?” The painter Gao Ming’s palm had a drawing of He Jing’s two legs.

Helplessly, He Jing turned back to help Gao Ming ram into the granny’s back and force her into the elevator booth.

“Close the door!”

The granny tore apart the corpses inside the booth. Blood splattered on the wall. This only made the evil ghosts drawn by the painter Gao Ming stronger.

“Finally shook loose of that crazy thing.” He Jing pressed the button to close the door. Suddenly, he felt a chill run up his spine. The painter Gao Ming laid a hand on He Jing’s shoulder. A flash crossed He Jing’s mind. The strong survival instinct compelled He Jing to shove the figurine into Gao Ming’s arms. “This is for you!”

He Jing could survive so many anomalies because he had a very sharp instinct.

“Oh?” The painter Gao Ming accepted the mud figurine with two hands. The drawings on the figurine echoed with his heart. He didn’t stay any longer and ran to the first floor.

He Jing felt the sensation returning to his legs. He chased after the painter Gao Ming. His goal was to leave with the painter Gao Ming once the exit was open.

Blood oozed out of the booth. Everyone in the building could hear the echoes of the granny’s screams clearly.

The painter Gao Ming carried the mud figurine. No one could stop him anymore. When he was on the first floor, the painter Gao Ming walked to the room in the middle of the corridor. He gripped the figurine by its neck and looked at the wall with three doors.

The door of the past had been destroyed by the normal Gao Ming. The door was open, but it was totally outside beyond the door. It was unclear what happened to the door of the future, but it was covered in blood vessels.

“This bunch of people sure is troublesome. Gods must be having a hard time dealing with them.” The painter Gao Ming walked to the Door of the Present with the figurine. Under the figurine’s influence, the darkness outside the door dissipated slightly. This was the first time the people inside the building saw the actual scenario outside the building.

“Can we leave now?” He Jing, who rushed over, didn’t have much time to rejoice when a loud commotion came from the staircase. A group of Gao Mings arrived at the scene.

“Found him!”

“You got the figurine of the past with you?!”

“How did you manage to shake off the grandmother and sneak her figurine to the first floor?”

As Gao Mings surrounded him, the gentlemanly painter Gao Ming frowned. It felt like he was ambushed by his poor relatives once he won the lottery.

“Look! The figurine has changed the scenery outside the Door of the Present! The figurine is the key!”

“This Gao Ming is amazing! The best among us!”
