He Jiang’s back instinctively started to hurt but there was no time left to lose. With lightning preciseness, he took a step forward and addressed the Bo family, “Hello Uncle and Auntie Bo, my name is He Jiang. I apologise for coming over uninvited. These are some gifts for you, I hope you’ll accept them.”

Before the couple could refuse, he pushed the bags of gifts into Auntie Bo’s hands. It was fortunate he had the sense to prepare extra gifts, allowing him to naturally pass the third bag to Uncle Jiang.

“Good day, uncle.”

Uncle Jiang looked at Shang Jing then at He Jiang. The thought of himself speaking up for this failure of a human a moment ago made his heart clog up.

Bo Rong introduced, “This is our ex-neighbour. He used to buy candies for you, you called him Uncle Jiang. Have you met each other before?”

Shang Jing attempted to diffuse the situation. “We met at the supermarket once and Uncle Jiang gifted me some eggs.”

Uncle Jiang was still staring at He Jiang with contempt but decided to not expose him for the time being.

Didn’t old fart Bo say they are still in a boyfriend-boyfriend relationship? Why did Xiao Jing call him Hubby previously?

Then came the time for dinner. The group, after some small talks, decided to make their way to the dinner table. Auntie Bo was a soft-spoken lady and a good cook. Throughout the dinner, she showered care and concern towards Shang Jing, fearing the food would not be up to his likings, and treated He Jiang with warmth.

He Jiang, in the end, could care less about eating and occupied himself with peeling off the shells off prawns and crabs for Shang Jing.

Even though both Uncle Bo and Uncle Jiang thought he was a jerk, he still had to keep up appearances.

He could not make their impressions of him worse than it already was.

During the dinner, a few bottles of alcohol were popped and by the end of it, a few of them were feeling tipsy.

One of them was Uncle Jiang. In his stupor, he asked, “He Jiang, you…”

While having the dinner filled with anxiety, He Jiang had already gone through eighteen
