Aspiring to the Immortal Path Chapter 1076: The Decisive Battle (3)

Demons, like ghosts, desired to take the positive plane for themselves. But while ghosts craved the life force of living beings that they could use to grow stronger, most demons craved their blood, flesh, and resources.

But whether it was demons or ghosts, they all had an endless desire to exploit and extract from the positive plane.

It was farmland, forage grounds, a garden that could be harvested every three thousand years. It was jewels, it was wealth, it was a treasury that opened once every three thousand years. It was a lamb, a beast, a mountain resort that they could hunt in every three thousand years!

When the Eight-Armed Heavenly Demon opened the passage to the land of demons, countless demons charged out, cheering and shouting in excitement.

As those demons emerged, their murderous intent swept through the crimson waters.

"Watch out!" Huang Wuji called out in shock, the Measure Heaven Ruler sending a white wave at the demons.

The demons that had initially come out weren't very strong, so they were instantly annihilated by Huang Wuji's attack, countless demons turned to dust in a single strike. This had a rallying effect on the other Immortals.

Then a group of Bull Demons charged out of the passage.

Bull Demons were Transformation-level demons, possessing strong and fierce bodies. They served as the regular troops of the demon army, though they were still easily wiped away by the attacks of an Earth Immortal.

But as Huang Wuji obliterated the Bull Demons, a black tentacle suddenly shot out of the passage, swinging toward Huang Wuji. Huang Wuji gave it a chop, immediately severing the tentacle, but large quantities of black liquid spilled out of the wound.

Huang Wuji instantly knew that this was trouble and summoned numerous barriers around himself. The black liquid spilled onto the barriers and swiftly ate its way through them, but the rate at which it destroyed them couldn't match the rate at which Huang Wuji created them. Huang Wuji had to create several dozen barriers before he was finally able to hold back the black liquid. But while he was busy with this, the owner of that tentacle had come out from the passage: a giant black ball of flesh with no eyes, only hundreds of flailing tentacles.

"It's a Blackblaze!" Ji Wenzhang shouted.

The Blackblaze was a famous demon of the Primordial Fog Domain, a savage and poisonous creature that consumed flesh and blood and was particularly effective against barriers. It was generally mindless and acted purely on instinct.

Huang Wuji's face turned grave upon seeing the Blackblaze. He didn't fear one Blackblaze. While this demon's poison was extremely effective against barriers, in the end, it was just a Violet Palace–level demon, still not enough to deal with an Earth Immortal. But one Blackblaze meant multiple, and they still had their enemies from the Blood River Domain to deal with.

Just as expected, one Blackblaze after another squeezed out of the passage. Their immense size and strength meant that they couldn't move through very quickly, but as their numbers began to build up, Huang Wuji felt his head starting to ache.

They had to immediately kill the Eight-Armed Heavenly Demon and sever the passage!

Even though he knew that this passage wouldn't last for too long, he didn't dare to gamble, for he had no idea what sort of demon would come out before the passage closed.

What if an Immortal Platform Archdevil or True Immortal Demon Lord showed up?

With this thought in mind, Huang Wuji unleashed a wave of rainbow energy at the Eight-Armed Heavenly Demon.

While the Eight-Armed Heavenly Demon was weaker than Huang Wuji, if he focused all his strength on defense, he could hold out for a while. He yelled out, "Hurry, hurry, hurry! Get out there and kill all these humans, and bring their corpses back! Bring them!!"

As he roared, more and more demons poured through, and as their numbers grew, Huang Wuji found that their constant interference made it harder and harder to deal with the Eight-Armed Heavenly Demon.

Huang Wuji inwardly groaned. If this continued, the demons would snowball into a real problem that spelled doom for their side.

He shouted, "Tang Jie, why are you still holding back? Have everyone come out and crush them!"

Tang Jie sighed. "If that's what you say, then I guess all of you should come out."

Four figures appeared, each at a cardinal direction and rapidly converging on the center: the Azure Dragon, Lithos Dragon, Vermillion Bird, and Mother Cloud combat puppet.

The Vermillion Bird led the way, saying, "I was getting impatient. Finally letting this lady join in? All of you, hurry up and die!"

As she spoke, her Southern Divine Fire swept over the demons.

The Southern Divine Fire burned away at the soul, and the demons scorched by it immediately began to scream in pain.

This was particularly true for the Blackblaze. It feared no physical injuries, as severing a tentacle would simply cause it to spew out poison, which only made it even more challenging to fight. But the Southern Divine Fire attacked the soul, and no poison was released from its formless wounds. The occasional poison that did get the chance to be spewed out was simply burned away.

In another direction, the Azure Dragon cackled and simply blew hard, upon which the river waters began to surge, sweeping up the demons. The water was so heavy and dense that the weaker demons were crushed into pancakes.

Evil Cloud yelled in anger, "Old Man Blood River, why is someone else using your Blood River?"

Blood River grunted and didn't reply.

Other than Fate, the Azure Dragon was also proficient in the Five Elements and could control water.

Although the Blood River was the Lord of the Blood River's body, it was water, so the Azure Dragon could control it.

If he focused, he could resist the control of the Azure Dragon, but he was currently battling with Tang Jie. Tang Jie had already shown off his strength once when he had gone one-versus-six, and while he seemed somehow weaker now, the Lord of the Blood River was also weaker, having paid a heavy price to deal with Yun Tianlan. Thus, when these two Earth Immortals battled, they were basically on par, and he had no attention to spare for the Azure Dragon.

Compared to the Azure Dragon's astonishing level of control over water, the Lithos Dragon was much cruder in his way. He turned back into his original form, a twin-horned draconic creature covered in lumps with a large head and short body. It opened its mouth and unleashed a gout of dragon breath.

Last was the Mother Cloud combat puppet.

It was the most inconspicuous of the four. It simply walked over without any hint of acceleration, but it was somehow able to ignore the distance. Its formation lines no longer glowed with starlight, remaining dark and unremarkable. Only someone familiar with its inner workings would understand that this was a sign that its energy had maximally concentrated.

A Fear Demon had just come from the passage—a kind of demon that was basically a symbol of nightmares in the chiliocosm. It was covered in black flames which took the form of whips that could flay any human they touched, and it also possessed a method of draining the will to fight from a soul. Not only that, it had an extremely tough body. It was a perfect combination of a magic user and warrior. In the Primordial Fog Domain, almost every demon had a tough body, with the only difference being between "strong" and "stronger", as a result of the environment they lived in. In that wretched world, all weaker lifeforms had gone extinct long ago.

The Fear Demon was a devil that haunted the nightmares of humans, and even an Earth Immortal would need to expend some effort to kill one.

But this Fear Demon had clearly found the wrong opponent, for its first challenger was the Mother Cloud combat puppet. The Fear Demon fired off a sonic wave, which transformed into a terrifying nightmare demon. But the puppet ignored it, letting the nightmare demon crash into it in a splash of black flames.

It was no living creature and had no soul, so it knew no fear. Those attacks targeting the soft and tender parts of the human soul were utterly useless against it.

Meanwhile, the Mother Cloud combat puppet raised its arm and reached for the Fear Demon.

The Fear Demon roared. While it seemed rough and crude, it was no fool. Seeing that its nightmare arts were of no use, it chose to flay the puppet with its fire whips. But these whips' ability to enhance the sensation of pain were useless against the puppet, and though the whips striking its metal body flung up numerous sparks, the puppet was insensible to it all. It quickly closed the distance between the two and grabbed the Fear Demon's neck. With a light twist, it snapped the Fear Demon's neck, seemingly not using its full strength.

Primordial Fog demons weren't that easy to kill, and a broken neck was no fatal wound. Even if it were beheaded, a new head would grow in its place. The Fear Demon's limp head roared at the Mother Cloud combat puppet while a black smoke poured out of its body and began to heal its wounds. But then, the Fear Demon saw a strange light coming from the puppet.

Motes of flashing starlight came together and flooded through the wound, instantly obliterating its life force…

Killed in one strike!

Four Immortal Platform existences instantly suppressed the enemy force and revitalized Huang Wuji and the others.

Ye Yun laughed, "Just hurry up and accept your defeat!"

In his view, Tang Jie's four Immortal subordinates joining the battle had completely turned the tables, and the Blood River Lord's side was bound to lose.

But there was no despair from the other side. On the contrary, Tang Jie sighed.

"It's too early to celebrate."

Huh?

The other Immortals froze in shock.

What did Tang Jie mean?

Did their enemy still have a card up their sleeve?

Tang Jie looked to the Flame Celestial Sovereign.

He smiled and said, "Since this guy betrayed me, how could they not know about the Azure Dragon and the others? If they knew and still wanted to fight, do you really think they wouldn't be prepared?"

The Flame Celestial Sovereign loudly laughed. "I knew I couldn't trick you. But while you knew we prepared something, you don't know exactly what it is, right?"

With a wave of his hand, Tang Jie forced the Lord of the Blood River back, and then he shrugged and said, "I'm not omniscient, so it's normal for me to not know. If you have something to deal with this, use it. I'm waiting to be enlightened."

The Flame Celestial Sovereign chuckled. "If that's what you want…"

"Strike!"
