Chapter 673: When the Rain Continues
“Ssshhhhh…” Pebbles gently shushed him and stroked his hair before he whispered. “Don’t fight it. Just let it happen… I’ll be gentle.”
A chill went up everyone’s spine when this line was uttered.
****
When I heard this line, you could bet your ass I saw more and more of myself in Pebbles than I cared to admit but darn it all if I wasn’t proud of the little guy.
He wanted to help Xiong Weizhe relearn how to kowtow and I am here for it.
I wanted to inject a little of my own knowledge since I knew how to kowtow based on cultivation novels.
“Pebbles, if you want him to kowtow, you have to–”
“Long Di please,” Pebbles looked at me smugly. “Let the pros deal with this.”
That statement struck me as odd. “You’re a pro at kowtowing?”
He looked at me as if confused at my confusion. “Have you seen how I sleep?”
“Curled up like an earthworm that’s been touched too many times by a child in desperate need of a bath?” I answered.
“That’s how I sleep and I told you that in confidence!” Pebbles yelled in righteous indignation.
“Sorry,” I apologised because he did tell me that in confidence. But it wasn’t entirely my fault. He asked, and I thought he had no trouble talking about it now.
“Whatever…” he waved me away with his paw. “This is how you teach someone something.”
“Uhm, you might wanna do it gently,” I told him. I had an idea of what he was gonna do.
“Long Di…” Pebbles looked at me incredulously. “This is me you’re talking to. Gentle is my middle name.”
“One, I don’t think we have those, and two, would that be Pebbles The Gentle Wondercat, or Pebbles Gentle The Wondercat? Asking for a friend.” I was legit curious and things like these had to be addressed.
“It’s Pebbles Gentle Wondercat,” he said to me proudly. “Now watch my gentleness at play.”
Xiong Weizhe tried to free his head from Pebbles’s grip but failed. “Let go of my head you son of a bi–”
“Now what you do is…” He placed his paw a bit above Xiong Weizhe’s head, cutting him off. “Gently press his head downwards.”
Boom!
Xiong Weizhe’s head crashed into the ground with great conviction behind it.
“I think I blinked,” I told Pebbles.
I wanted to sup on the learning Pebbles had to offer.
“No worries,” he said to me gleefully. “This is as much a learning opportunity for you as it is for him,” he flicked a dismissive paw at Xiong Weizhe.
Xiong Weizhe’s mouth was filled with rocks and dirt. “L-Let me g–”
“He’s got eight to do per your words,” Pebbles couldn’t care less what Xiong Weizhe had to say. “So you’ll have to catch on in the next seven kowtows.”
“I am here to learn.”
My eyes were peeled this time.
“Like I said,” Pebbles readied to repeat himself. “Gently.”
Boom!
The last explosive meeting with Xiong Weizhe’s face and the ground shook the Sect Master from his stupor.
“Stop!”
Dum!
He shot off towards me and Pebbles to stop it.
I guess it made sense in a way. Xiong Weizhe was the most gifted genius of Golden Lion Gate.
It would be a stain on their honour to have the aforementioned most gifted genius kowtowing to a nobody like me.
As we all know, to these people, honour, is more important than food… honour, is more than water. If honour were a person, they would say to it, ‘I likes ya, and I wants ya. Now we can do this the easy way, or we can do this the hard way… the choice is yours.’
If you are familiar with the inspiration from which these lines are drawn and question me thus, know this… I admit nothing.
Back to the regularly scheduled programming, the Sect Master was almost upon us by now, when, out of nowhere, a white fluffy wall filled my vision.
Boom!
It took less than a millisecond for me to realise it was Lord Whiskers. His face was twisted into that of malice and bloodlust, which to me looked like a cat that was just… existing, but I digress.
“Get out of the way!” Sect Master Huang Jianyu roared. His cauldrons whirled fiercely behind him as he channelled his lone fusion cauldron. The void twisted furiously around it as the essence flame within burned without reserve!
Shu!
Lord Whiskers vanished from its spot and reappeared at the side of the Sect Master, but he saw it coming.
“Scram!”
His palm blazed just like Xiong Weizhe’s and I could see where he launched a similar Twin Golden Lion Charge at Lord Whiskers.
An ear-splitting roar filled the surroundings when two massive lions as real as ever manifested out of nowhere.
Shing!
Lord Whiskers saw that he couldn’t avoid him and challenged him head-on. His claws lit up with that same white light, and they clashed with the claws of one of the lions!
A screeching sound rang out that forced me to cover my ears. It was the same for everyone else when I looked over at them as well. Some of the weaker cultivators even had blood leaking out of their ears.
The other lion crashed into Lord Whiskers and sent him careening off to the side.
Boom!
He crashed into an already destroyed building and I heard Shen Ling and the others cry out, unaware of his fate.
I knew Lord Whiskers would live. One hit from this guy wasn’t gonna kill him. It’s just that their speed wasn’t as ‘faster-than-the-other’ as I thought it was, so that natural advantage of his wasn’t at play here, sadly enough.
He emerged from the rubble and looked around as his killing intent soared. The problem here is that I knew he wouldn’t arrive fast enough to stop this guy.
Boom!
“You!”
The aura around the sect master soared as the face of Xiong Weizhe was slammed into the ground once again.
“Hand him over!” Huang Jianyu stretched out his hand for Pebbles before it switched into a claw strike with a golden light flashing on it that encased his hand, turning his normal claw strike into a lion claw strike.
It seemed that he no longer cared about the danger he clearly sensed in Pebbles.
Krrrsh!
With only a thought, the spear image in my mind sea trembled. It was different this time. When I say different, I meant in the sense that its shaft was now laden with mysterious patterns I had it engraved with.
I wanted it to look more cool and the aesthetic was definitely a good decision.
I got the inspiration from my cauldrons. Of course by inspiration, I meant shameless replication that I take full credit for. There was also a type of heaviness to it that wasn’t there before, so I guess there are some uses to these patterns that I haven’t figured out yet.
Back to the fight, in an instant, a white lightning spear materialised. It shared the same heaviness that the one in my mind sea had.
I really have to figure out what these patterns can do. A heavy feeling can’t be the only thing they do. My poop has a heavy feeling most times and I don’t see patterns on it. Well… now that I mention it…
Shu!
I fired it at Huang Jianyu before he had much time to react. Not my poop, the spear.
Eeenngh!
It created that god-awful screeching sound as it cut through the air. At first, he didn’t even register that I attacked him.
I guess my identity as a part of the younger generation wasn’t really that much of a cause for concern.
Well, far be it from me to apprise him of that danger. I’ve heard from somewhere that it’s much more effective to learn something first-hand. I guess being dead is as effective as it gets.
Lord knows you won’t be making any more mistakes after that. Look at me helping people.
As it neared him, I could see his expression change when he sensed the strange energy in my lightning spear.
Must be the Divine Ivoric Calamity Tribulation Energy that comprised it. He had no choice but to tear his attention from Xiong Weizhe and deal with my attack instead, raising his hand in a hasty block.
Boom!
My spear was blasted apart, but his approach was forcibly stopped as well. I looked down and saw his hand shaking and an expression of shock surfaced.
‘I guess without my cauldrons out, I can’t bring out the full effects of my divine lightning qi.’
Is it too much to ask to do something with minimum effort?
Shu!
Suddenly, Pebbles appeared on top of my head subconsciously causing both Huang Jianyu and me to turn our heads to see Xiong Weizhe’s head firmly buried in the ground like an apex ostrich.
Huang Jianyu, the elders, Violet Flame Noble, Heavenly Sun Noble, the present Heroes, and the younger experts including those from Golden Lion Gate all stared at Xiong Weizhe speechless.
“Now he is kowtowing with the best of them!” Pebbles Puffed out his chest with pride.
My gaze flicked upwards, “Can you do it again? I missed it.”
As soon as I said this, Sect Master Huang Jianyu roared and his aura exploded once more as he called out his full power!
“You could have just said no.” Did people have to take things so seriously?
“Die!” He lunged for me and I could very clearly feel the killing intent he harboured for both Pebbles and me.
Seriously though, what did we ever do to him? This guy, ammi right?
Regardless, I was getting sick and tired of all of this. So I just stared into space and said very clearly. “If you don’t appear and stop all of this. You get nothing from me. Get your ass out here.”
A fleeting look of surprise flashed across not just the experts watching, but even Huang Jianyu’s face when I said this. Probably wondering who I was talking to. I guess it wasn’t the Sect Master who was currently mid-lunge and closing. I mean, his ass was already en route and I wanted none of it.
The look of surprise didn’t last for long, seeing as how he didn’t pause in his charge. His face was twisted into a scowl and his lion strike was already causing my robes to flap in the wind.
Vooo!!
Suddenly, the temperature dropped to an obscene degree and a thin layer of frost appeared on the ground.
Sect Master Huang Jianyu immediately stopped his strike and looked somewhere behind me in shock while the rest of the experts, the Five Nobles and Heroes included, did the same.
At that time, a cold voice echoed out with a touch of menace behind it.
“Do you believe you can talk to me in such a way?”
I turned around, ignoring everybody else, and replied. “Well, your ass has come hither already. So I would say the ends justify the means.”
Pebbles looked over yonder to see who the cause of this was.
“Say Long Di, is this Waifu #3?”
Immediately after, the temperature dropped even further.
Well, that could have gone better. To be fair, this all happened because we were left unsupervised.
PLEASE READ BELOW!!!
So everyone, this is it. This is the last chapter that represents catching up to the main story. Beyond this, there will be no six chapter release per day. All of my writing time will go towards writing new chapters which takes time. Now because of how much time my work (day job) is taking, I may not be able to write a chapter a day under these conditions as I would like to, but I will try! With that being said, if you guys support me on Patreon or the card thing on hostednovel and it is enough to have me quit my day job (which I will gladly do), then you will have me all to yourself, and ya'll know what that means. Confirmed chapter release (possibly multi, we will see) every day with bonus chapters releasing once a month if certain goals are reached and beyond. So lemme see how that goes I guess, and we will take it from there. :)
